Deion Sanders 'Never' Thought He'd Resign as Colorado HC After Cancer Diagnosis
Colorado head coach Deion Sanders didn't reconsider his future on the sidelines as he went through his bladder cancer ordeal.
The Hall of Fame cornerback announced Monday that doctors removed his bladder after finding a tumor, and he has been deemed cancer-free. He was diagnosed in April and underwent surgery on May 9.
During the press conference, Sanders added he "never thought" about stepping down from his post with the Buffs:

Deion Sanders Jr. documented the bladder surgery for his Well Off Media channel:
Details about Sanders' health had been scarce. During the Big 12's media days earlier this month, he sidestepped a question when asked for specifics and spoke more broadly by saying he was "looking good" and "living lovely."
Deion Jr. did provide some more insight Sunday with a video he posted online. At one point in the update, Deion Sr. said he "had to make a will" for the first time. His son assured viewers the situation "was a battle that was fought and won," though.
With Monday's announcement, Sanders made it clear he's focused on what's his third season in Boulder.
Expectations for Colorado in 2025 are somewhat tempered since the team has to replace Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter and leading passer Shedeur Sanders.
The Buffs finished 38th in 247Sports' composite team rankings for the 2025 recruiting class and ranked 19th in terms of transfer portal additions. Julian Lewis, a 4-star prospect, is battling Liberty transfer Kaidon Salter for the starting quarterback job.
This year could be a case of the program taking a small step backward with Sanders and his staff solidifying the long-term foundation.
Monday's presser also went a long way toward removing any doubt as to his commitment to the job.
