Tadej Pogacar Wins 2025 Tour de France, 4th Career Title for Cycling Star
Tadej Pogačar is a Tour de France champion once again.
The 26-year-old Slovenian star won his fourth Tour de France title on Sunday, completing the race in 76 hours and 32 seconds. Jonas Vingegaard finished in second place, four minutes and 24 seconds behind Pogačar. Florian Lipowitz finished in third place, 11 minutes back from Pogačar.
"Battling against Jonas was a tough experience," Pogačar said, per USA Today's Elizabeth Flores and Steve Gardner. "Much respect and much congratulations for his fight. Great race."
With Sunday's win, Pogačar is now tied with Britain's Chris Froome on the all-time winners' list. Only six cyclists have won four or more Tour de France titles, and only Pogačar and Froome have done so this century.
Cyclists battled through rainy conditions on Sunday, and though Pogačar didn't need a win on the final stage, he remained competitive throughout and finished in fourth place.
"This was one of the hardest Tours I've ever been in," Pogačar said, per ESPN.
With another title secured, Pogačar is now just one win away from being tied for the most Tour de France victories of all time. While reaching that level would be quite the accomplishment, Pogačar has already submitted his status as one of the best cyclist of his generation.
