During an event in Iowa on July 3, Trump said "we’re going to have a UFC fight" on the White House grounds as part of his America 250 celebration for the Fourth of July in 2026.
In the time since Trump's declaration, UFC has been actively talking to White House officials to figure out the logistics of holding the event in Washington D.C.
White told reporters after Saturday's UFC event in Nashville that exact logistics haven't been decided yet, but the stage will be set up on the south lawn. He has also teased the card will be the "we can possibly put together."
Several top stars have made it known they hope to compete on the show. Conor McGregor, who hasn't fought since 2021, responded to Trump's original statement with a message on X:

Given the security detail around the White House and president, White has said the event will likely be an invite-only crowd.
UFC has previously held two events in Washington D.C. at Capital One Arena. The promotion's debut in the city was in October 2011 with Dominick Cruz defeating Demetrious Johnson to retain the bantamweight title in the main event.
Jairzinho Rozenstruik knocked out Alistair Overeem in the headline bout of the UFC on ESPN show in D.C. on Dec. 7, 2019.
