Players to Watch on Wednesday
Jahlil Okafor, Philadelphia 76ers

At some point, Jahlil Okafor needs to show something to save the Philadelphia 76ers.
Never mind the fact he will need to produce during the regular season with Joel Embiid out for the season, per Yahoo Sports' Dan Devine.
No, this is about right now in Las Vegas as the 76ers head into battle with the Brooklyn Nets. Okafor's last time out, he posted 18 points and six rebounds in a crushing overtime loss that dropped the 76ers to 0-3.
One of the main problems? Okafor needed 18 shots to score those 18 points.
Okafor told Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer about how his role changes with Embiid out of the picture: "It doesn't. My role is to dominate. I'm one of the centerpieces of this team. So my role is the same."
Sooner rather than later, Okafor will need to step up against NBA-level competition. The tournament in Las Vegas is just an exhibition, sure, but it would benefit the 76ers to stay alive and get the Duke product more pro-level experience.
Kelly Oubre, Washington Wizards

Kelly Oubre, who might receive more playing time as a rookie than anyone could have predicted if the NBA's Summer League is any sign, has had a rather hit-or-miss performance thus far.
In his Las Vegas debut, Oubre wowed by pouring in 20 points. He then turned around and struggled Sunday with 18 points on a 5-of-17 effort with six fouls.
Jorge Castillo of the Washington Post captured the rookie's reaction to his performance:
Tuesday, the Wizards picked up their first win in the preliminary games to avoid touting a goose egg in the win column, but Oubre still struggled to 11 points on 4-of-11 shooting.
Still, it's fun to watch one of the highest-upside rookies go at it every night. Washington continues to allow Oubre to run wild, and sooner or later he figures to break through. It might happen Wednesday against the Utah Jazz.
D'Angelo Russell, Los Angeles Lakers

D'Angelo Russell shared the duty at point guard in his debut with Jordan Clarkson, yet still scored eight points, grabbed five boards, dished six assists and wound up with three steals.
It was a resounding debut, but it hasn't all been so rosy. After a 14-point outburst Saturday, Russell came back down to Earth against the New York Knicks and turned the ball over eight times.
Bleacher Report's Kevin Ding provided some perspective on Russell's showing so far:
In other words, Russell looks like a rookie, as expected. He hasn't blown anyone away yet with the elite scoring ability he showed in college, but there have been flashes of him playing at an elite speed and letting the game come to him.
Next for Russell is a test against the Dallas Mavericks in a single-elimination round. Whether he responds to the pressure with improved play and leads the team will be one of Wednesday's most interesting storylines.
