Tyson Fury Expected to End Boxing Retirement in 2026 After Losing Usyk Fights
It appears that former boxing heavyweight champion Tyson Fury couldn't stay away from the ring for too long.
Fury, who is coming off of back-to-back losses to current unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, is expected to end his retirement and return to boxing in 2026, Turki Alalshikh confirmed to Ring Magazine.
"I talked with him, and I have his word to have him in Riyadh Season in 2026," Alalshikh said. "We have a rabbit to hunt."
Fury announced his retirement on Jan. 13, less than one month after his second loss to Usyk.
"I'm going to make this short and sweet, I'd like to announce my retirement from boxing," Fury said at the time in a social media video. "It's been a blast, I've loved every single minute of it and I'm going to end with this. Dick Turpin wore a mask. God bless everybody, see you on the other side."
This wouldn't be the first time that Fury returns to the ring after retiring. He announced his retirement in social media posts in 2013 and 2017, and he declared his career was over following a win over Dillian Whyte in April 2022. All of those retirements were short-lived, and it appears that this one will be as well.
While a third title fight against Usyk doesn't appear to be on the table for Fury after their last two fights didn't go his way, he's still a major draw and one of the biggest stars in the sport. The much-anticipated fight between him and former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua remains available, though that fight has been in the works for years without ever coming to fruition.
It likely would take just one impressive performance from Fury to get him back into the title picture, so fans will be curious to see how motivated he truly is to get back his heavyweight championship.
