Hugo Lloris Returns to Tottenham Lineup After Wrist Injury
Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris made a winning return to the Spurs lineup on Wednesday, replacing Luke McGee in the 55th minute of the north London side's 2-0 Audi Cup win over AC Milan.
As reported by Spurs' official website, the Frenchman suffered a wrist fracture during pre-season and initially appeared to be a major doubt for Spurs' Premier League opener against Manchester United on Saturday.
Mike Keegan of the Daily Mail reported "Lloris's cameo would suggest he will be between the posts at Old Trafford." However, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has quality cover in Michel Vorm if needed, a player who possesses plenty of Premier League experience from his time with Swansea.
Lloris is a leader, though, and somebody who could replace David De Gea as United No. 1 in the future, reported by L’Equipe (h/t Jamie Sanderson of Metro).
Spurs need to get their season off to a winning start if they're to be taken seriously as Champions League contenders, so they'll do everything they can to make sure Lloris is ready for what promises to be an extremely tough curtain-raiser.
