Celtics' Jayson Tatum Says 'This is Some Bulls--t' amid Achilles Injury Recovery
Jayson Tatum is literally counting down the days until he can return to the court after his Achilles injury during the NBA playoffs.
"Day 45… this is some bulls--t," Tatum tweeted on Friday night.
Despite the setback, the 27-year-old has been sharing recovery updates on social media — counting the days and documenting the highs and lows of the process.
Needless to say, some days have been better than others.
The All-Star ruptured his Achilles tendon during the Celtics’ 121-113 loss to the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference semifinals on May 12 and underwent surgery the following day.
The injury not only ended the Celtics’ hopes for a 2025 championship run, but likely puts their 2026 campaign in jeopardy as well, with the star not expected to return next season.
Celtics head coach Brad Stevens said that they do not know a timeline for a return for the star given the severity of the injury.
“We don’t and we won’t,” Stevens said Wednesday night. “We won’t put a projected timeline on him for a long, long time. … It’s baby steps right now. He’s actually progressed great, but I don’t know what that means in regard to projected timelines. But that will be in consultation with him … and everybody else to make sure when he hits the court he is fully ready, and fully healthy. And that will be the priority.”
