2025 NBA Draft Scouting Report for Golden State Warriors No. 52 Pick Alex Toohey
The Golden State Warriors have drafted Alex Toohey with the No. 52 pick in the 2025 NBA draft.
Toohey had a strong showing in May during the draft combine in Chicago, flashing some improved shooting.
The 21-year-old also looked like an interchangeable big wing or stretch 4 against his fellow draft competition during combine scrimmages.
The Australian's range, off-ball finishing and mobility should make him a pro-ready prospect, even if his long-term trajectory doesn't scream star.
Toohey ranks No. 37 on B/R NBA draft expert Jonathan Wasserman's Top 75 Prospect Big Board.

Realistic Pro Comparison: Bojan Bogdanović
1 of 3
Bojan Bogdanović has never claimed to be a premier athlete or go-to option, and neither will Toohey.
However, both have a modest bag of simple tricks, and both are reliable spot-up shooters when others are creating.
If Toohey finds his stroke, he can earn a shooter's reputation. It's whether he can improve his ball-handling and playmaking that will elevate his ceiling and change his pro comp at some point in his career.
Strengths
2 of 3
Positional Size: At 6'8", 223 pounds, Toohey offers a similar, if not slightly sturdier frame to someone like Chicago Bulls swingman Josh Giddey. His 6'10¾" wingspan doesn't jump off the page, but it did check in as top 15 among players who did not classify as full-time power forwards or centers.
Shotmaking Potential: He isn't a lights-out shooter, but he has proved he can be counted upon to hit open shots. That's maybe the most translatable skill in the NBA, and it will keep him in rotations, as long as he's staying efficient.
Transition Playmaking: A defensive motor, grab-and-go rebounding, rapid-read passing and a high basketball IQ all make Toohey a reliable fast-break ball-handler.
Weaknesses
3 of 3
Creation: Especially in the half court, Toohey can afford to improve his on-ball playmaking and creation both for himself and teammates.
Shooting Consistency: He could have a long NBA career in front of him, but it all hinges on the development—and consistency—of his distance shooting.
Athleticism: Size and athleticism are not the same thing. Toohey has positional size that his team will appreciate, but it needs to work with him during non-game hours to improve this part of his overall package.
