Manchester United Transfer News: David De Gea Deadline Handed to Real Madrid
Those fans concerned the transfer saga that has engulfed Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea will rumble on throughout the summer months needn’t worry, as reports suggest the Red Devils have told Real Madrid to get a deal done imminently.
According to the Sun (h/t Ryan Rosenblatt of Eurosport), United have warned Los Blancos they need to get a deal completed by Monday, ahead of the Red Devils flying out to the United States for their pre-season tour.
According to the piece, if the transfer isn't finalised, any subsequent offers from Real for the goalkeeper will be “blocked” by the English side.

As noted by Bleacher Report’s Andy Brassell, the goalkeeping situation at Old Trafford is likely to be one of the key storylines running throughout the pre-season:
Having allowed Iker Casillas to join Porto, Real’s need for a top-class goalkeeper has become hugely apparent.
While the Los Blancos legend is a shade past his peak, filling his shoes between the sticks at the Santiago Bernabeu is an unenviable task, one which requires a tremendous goalkeeper to step in.

De Gea is of that quality and would help ease what could be a difficult transitional period for the Spanish giants. But as we can see here, courtesy of Mike Keegan of the Daily Mail, the Red Devils are taking a staunch approach when it comes to their prized asset:
And rightly so. Granted, the Spaniard only has one year left on his contract and it’s something which lessens the strength of their negotiating standpoint to a degree. But Los Blancos are in desperate need of a goalkeeper, and in De Gea, they would be getting one of the best in the world.

United, you suspect, would be happy to keep De Gea on board for another season rather than lose him for a fee they consider to be meagre.
Indeed, given the signings the club have already made, if the 24-year-old remained at Old Trafford next season, the Red Devils would have a side capable of achieving big things, per Spanish football expert Sergi Dominguez:
These transfer wrangles can often be a major distraction for sides in the build-up to the season, and it’s understandable that United don’t want the speculation lingering. After all, manager Louis van Gaal will want to be squarely focused on integrating the new faces he’s drafted in ahead of the big kick-off.
United's terms on De Gea seem to have been unchanged for a while now, and although Real may be hoping the club buckle as the transfer window edges closer, the Red Devils seem stern.
At this juncture, De Gea donning United's colours for one more season before heading to the Spanish capital on a free transfer in 2016 seems to be the most likely outcome.
