Stevens Reveals Thomas Had Surgery in June
Sunday, July 12
Speaking to reporters at Las Vegas Summer League, Celtics coach Brad Stevens revealed Thomas should be fully recovered within two to four weeks.
"I don't know exactly what the deal was, but he just had a little cyst removed from his wrist," Stevens said. "It was something that we knew at the end of the year they would have to (remove it). It's a small minor thing, so they had to take care of it."
Thomas, 26, also dealt with a much more publicized back injury toward the end of the season. Those injuries may have helped facilitate his late-season downturn, as he shot just 33.3 percent in Boston's first-round playoff loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The diminutive guard, who came over from Phoenix at the trade deadline, averaged 19 points and 5.4 assists in 21 regular-season games with the Celtics. He is expected to continue his sixth-man role in 2015-16.
