Cooper Flagg Says He Hasn't Rewatched Missed Shot in Final Four, 'Just Not Who I Am'
Cooper Flagg says he has not rewatched the potential game-winner he missed in the closing seconds of his final game with Duke.
After Flagg's last shot attempt hit the rim on April 5, Duke didn't score for the remainder of a 70-67 Final Four loss to Houston.
“That’s just not who I am," Flagg told Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix when asked about rewatching the end of Houston's win.
Flagg told Mannix, “I’m not going to beat myself up over whether I could have taken one more dribble or whether I could have done something different. It was a tough shot, but I don’t think you’re going to get an easy shot in that opportunity. If you look at any game-winner at any level, I don’t think there’s a lot of wide-open [ones].
"You get to a spot, you raise up, and you trust the work that you put in over time. I’m just going to live with what I trusted.”
Duke head coach Jon Scheyer called a timeout with 17.2 seconds left in the Final Four matchup, after which the Blue Devils set up the play to get the ball in the hands of their leading scorer.
The youngest prospect in the draft is heading into the first round one June 25 as the consensus top pick.
The Dallas Mavericks hold the No. 1 pick heading into the draft, and Flagg is in line to take over as the new face of the franchise on day one.
The NBA draft is set to begin next Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
