Raymond Felton Recalls Michael Jordan 'Frying' Bobcats Players in 1-on-1s as Governor
Ex-Charlotte Bobcats guard Raymond Felton said on Philadelphia 76ers forward Paul George's podcast that a 43-year-old Michael Jordan was "frying" Bobcats players in one-on-one games shortly after MJ bought an ownership stake in the team in 2006.
The conversation begins at the 2:15 mark.
Felton said he, Jeff McInnis and Gerald Wallace all played 1-on-1 against Jordan one day.
"And when I tell you he was frying us? Man, he was frying us, man, and was talking crazy to us, too, man."
George asked Felton if Jordan walked away with "some L's." However, Felton said that wasn't the case.
"We was scoring on him," Felton began, "but he won the games."
Felton was also asked if Jordan was doing the same moves that made him a basketball legend.
"Same post-up, fadeaway, no, anything you want, he still was doing it at that age," Felton said. "He was crazy."
It's not a big surprise that Jordan still had something in the tank against then-active NBA players. He, of course, was iconic during his playing days, averaging 30.1 points per game and winning six NBA championships and five NBA MVP awards. Jordan was even playing at age 40, averaging 20.0 points per game for the Washington Wizards during his final NBA season (2002-03), only a few years before he played in these one-on-one games.
These days, Jordan has traded the NBA for NASCAR, where he owns and operates 23XI Racing alongside driver Denny Hamlin.
