Pacers' Flight Lands in OKC After Tornado Warning Before NBA Finals G1 vs. Thunder
If you believe in omens, this may not be a good sign for the Indiana Pacers against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA Finals.
The Pacers' flight to Oklahoma City was diverted to Tulsa, Oklahoma, thanks to a tornado warning in the OKC area. The weather conditions also kept them grounded in Tulsa before the team finally landed in OKC three and a half hours behind schedule, per ESPN.
According to the Associated Press' Tim Reynolds, the Pacers were midair when the tornado warning was issued. With their plane having refueled, the hope was for the team to make it to Oklahoma City by Tuesday night.
Oklahoma is smack dab in the middle of Tornado Alley, so the Pacers got a little taste of the unexpected challenges a road game against the Thunder can present.
Game 1 of the Finals isn't until Thursday night, so touching down in OKC a few hours later than expected shouldn't disrupt Indiana's preparations too much. The Pacers' players and coaches will have all day Wednesday to work out and watch film, with any final preparations to follow Wednesday afternoon.
Still, this is a point in the season when a team doesn't want anything, no matter how small, to go wrong.
