Charles Barkley Asks Karl-Anthony Towns About 'Dumb Fouls' After Knicks' Game 5 Win
New York Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns has been exceptional in his first year with the team, averaging 24.4 points and 12.8 rebounds en route to All-NBA Third Team honors.
He's a big reason why the Knicks remain alive in the playoffs, but after New York's 111-94 win over the Indiana Pacers in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals, Charles Barkley asked KAT about some "dumb fouls" he's acrued throughout the series, to which Towns responded, "God only knows."
Towns is a scoring and rebounding machine at his best, but at his worst, he's playing himself off the court with needless fouls.
Last night, Towns had 24 points and 13 rebounds in 36 minutes, and New York finished plus-26 with him on the court. But he also had five fouls, including three in the first five minutes and 36 seconds of the third quarter. After having just one in the first half, he had four with 6:24 left in the third. He sat for the rest of the quarter (minus the last play of the period when the Knicks had the ball).
Towns' absence didn't cost the Knicks the game, as New York cruised against an Indiana team that almost looked like it was on cruise control toward Game 6 back in Indianapolis for parts of the contest. But it's certainly something to monitor as the Knicks try to stave off elimination again when the series returns back to Indianapolis on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET.
