Shai Gilgeous-Alexander 'On the Hunt for More' After Thunder Clinch NBA Finals Berth
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander isn't satisfied with just one trip to the NBA Finals after the Oklahoma City Thunder clinched the 2025 Eastern Conference title with Wednesday's Game 5 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
"On the hunt for more, I just need like four more," Gilgeous-Alexander wrote in the caption of a Thursday Instagram post.
Gilgeous-Alexander posted a game-high 34 points on Wednesday to help send the Thunder to the Finals for the first time since 2012.
The Wolves were only able to effectively contain Gilgeous-Alexander in their lone win of the series, when the reigning NBA MVP was limited to 14 points in Game 3.
Outside of that loss, Gilgeous-Alexander posted four outings with at least 30 points, including a playoff-career high 40 points in Game 4, to help the Thunder clinch the conference.
Gilgeous-Alexander told reporters after the Game 5 win that he was still focused on his ultimate goal of winning an NBA title.
"I said it before: this isn't our goal. We didn't start the season like, we want to win the West. We want to win the NBA championship," Gilgeous-Alexander said at the 13:30 mark of Wednesday night's press conference.
"Now we are a step closer to our goal, and we're happy about that, but it's still four more games to go win. Four really hard games to go win. And we have to be the best version of ourselves for four nights to reach the ultimate goal."
The Thunder are now set to play either the Indiana Pacers or New York Knicks for the title.
The Pacers could clinch their own spot in the NBA Finals if Tyrese Haliburton is able to help his team close out the series on Thursday night at Madison Square Garden. The Knicks will meanwhile be fighting to keep their postseason hopes alive when Game 5 tips off at 8 p.m. ET.
