KAT, Brunson, Knicks Rally From 20-Point Hole, Wow Fans in Win vs. Haliburton, Pacers
The New York Knicks aren't out of it yet.
The Knicks erased a 20-point second-quarter hole to beat the Indiana Pacers 106-100 on Sunday, avoiding what would have been a crushing 3-0 series deficit.
The Pacers appeared well on their way to taking a big lead in the series, coming out hot and staying hot early in the second half. New York didn't give up, though, despite facing a major deficit late in the third quarter. The Knicks went on a 16-4 run stretching across the final minutes of the third and the first few minutes of the fourth to get within striking distance.
A fantastic stretch from Karl-Anthony Towns helped New York take the lead early in the final quarter.
From there, it was back and forth down the stretch.
Jalen Brunson wasn't much of a factor in the fourth because of fouls, but he did hit a clutch floater to give the Knicks a 100-98 lead heading into the final minute. From there, New York managed to put the game away with solid defense and some free throws.
Though Brunson's five fouls meant he spent plenty of time on the bench in the fourth, he still finished with 23 points.
The true hero for the Knicks was Towns, who scored 20 points in the fourth quarter alone to finish with 24 points and 15 rebounds. Fans had high praise for Towns as he sparked the 20-point comeback.
The Knicks still have a tall task ahead of them as they trailed 2-1, but getting a win on Sunday to avoid going down 3-0 does wonders for their chances of advancing past Indiana.
If New York can get the version of Towns it had in the fourth on Sunday, coming back and winning the series is well within reason.
