The Oklahoma City Thunder took a commanding 2-0 series lead in the Western Conference Finals, defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves by the final score of 118-103 in Game 2 on Thursday.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was unstoppable offensively, scoring 38 points on 12-of-21 shooting. He also dished out eight assists and recorded three steals.

Anthony Edwards finished with 32 points while shooting 46.2 percent from the field for Minnesota, but connected on just one of his nine attempts from three-point territory.

Fans were impressed by the performance from Oklahoma City, envisioning a series sweep.

Minnesota stayed within striking distance throughout the first half, as Oklahoma City held a 58-50 advantage at halftime.

The Thunder only led by five points with six minutes left in the third quarter, but they closed the period on a 25-8 run.

Minnesota cut a 24-point deficit to 10 points late in the fourth, but a three-pointer from Jalen Williams and a layup from Gilgeous-Alexander put the contest out of reach.

Williams finished with a double-double, scoring 26 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. He shot 12-of-20 from the field and amassed five assists without committing a turnover.

Oklahoma City's ball security as a team was impressive, racking up 30 assists compared to just eight turnovers.

As for the Timberwolves, their starting lineup struggled against a Thunder squad that owns the best defensive rating in the playoffs (via NBA.com).

Julius Randle, Mike Conley and Rudy Gobert combined to score just 14 points on 5-of-22 shooting.

Minnesota wasn't able to take care of the ball, giving up 22 points off 14 turnovers. The Thunder thrived in transition and routinely finished around the rim, shooting 63.2 percent on two-point field goals as a team.

The Timberwolves will now travel back home and look to avoid falling into a disastrous 3-0 series hole in Game 3 on Saturday.
