Kevin Durant Trolls 'The Actual Real MVP' Kendrick Perkins After 2012 Thunder Comments
The Oklahoma City Thunder reached the 2012 NBA Finals with Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and James Harden leading the way, which has spurred some hypothetical conversations about a matchup between that team and the current iteration of the franchise that is seven wins away from a championship.
Former NBA player Kenyon Martin suggested big man Kendrick Perkins would be a "liability" for that 2012 squad, which drew quite the response from the man himself who said he helped shut down Dirk Nowitzki, Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum and Tim Duncan during that playoff run.
He even said he contained Tony Parker and Manu Ginóbili when he was switched onto the smaller playmakers.

Durant didn't miss a chance to troll his former teammate:
The "real MVP" comment is a callback to Durant's speech when he won the 2014 NBA MVP and called his mother Wanda "the real MVP."
While Perkins was adamant that he was a key piece in OKC's run to the Finals, it should be noted he didn't exactly completely shut down that list of players.
Nowitzki averaged 26.8 points per game in the first-round series, Gasol averaged a double-double in the second round, Bynum averaged just shy of a double-double with 16.6 points and 9.4 rebounds, and Duncan averaged just shy of a double-double at 17.0 points and 9.8 rebounds in the conference finals.
Perkins undoubtedly provided a physical presence on defense and helped contain some of those players, but it also might be a different story if he played against a 2025 Thunder team that would surely look to get him in space with switches and beat him with quickness.
His inability to stretch the floor on the offensive side might also pose a problem and allow the 2025 version to focus even more attention on Durant, Westbrook and Harden.
Durant and Perkins have traded jabs in the past, including in 2020 when the latter said Westbrook is the best player to wear a Thunder jersey:
The future Hall of Famer saw another opportunity to have some fun at his former teammate's expense Thursday and jumped at it.
