No. 7 Ole Miss 3, No. 10 Florida 1
Three Mississippi pitchers combined to throw a four-hitter in a 3-1 victory over Florida to advance in the SEC tournament.
Hunter Elliott got the start for the Rebels and struck out eight, while allowing one unearned run in 5.1 innings.
Mason Morris came on in relief of Elliott with one out in the sixth with the tying run at the plate. He escaped the jam by getting Blake Cyr to ground into a double play as part of his 2.2 scoreless innings of work.
Connor Spencer closed the game with a perfect ninth inning.
With the pitching holding up its end of the bargain, the Rebels lineup broke through in the bottom of the fourth against Florida starter Liam Peterson. Isaac Humphrey got the scoring started with a double that plated Judd Utermark.
Peterson was let down by his defense, which allowed two more runs to score in the fourth Ashton Wilson's throwing error on Campbell Smithwick's single.
Wilson scored the lone Gators run in the top of the fifth on a throwing error by Ole Miss shortstop Brayden Randle.
Mississippi advances to the quarterfinals where it will take on No. 2 Arkansas on Friday.
No. 12 Oklahoma 3, No. 5 Georgia 2
Kyson Witherspoon was not going to let Oklahoma lose on Wednesday.
The starting pitcher was brilliant against Georgia, giving up just two runs on five hits in 7.2 innings, striking out eight, as the Sooners beat the Bulldogs 3-2.
Brayden Horton added two RBI in the win, while five Georgia pitchers combined to give up eight hits and three runs in the loss. Henry Hunter provided the biggest highlight of the night for the Bulldogs with his eighth-inning home run, but it was too little, too late for Georgia.
Oklahoma will now face Vanderbilt on Thursday (7:30 pm. ET).
No. 14 Texas A&M 9, No. 11 Mississippi State 0
Texas A&M center fielder Jace LaViolette's grand slam capped a six-run second inning for the Aggies en route to a 9-0 win.
The Aggies' 7-8-9 hitters (second baseman Ben Royo, right fielder Terrence Kiel II and left fielder Sawyer Farr) all had two hits. Kiel scored three runs, while Royo had two.
Starting pitcher Ryan Prager threw 5.1 shutout innings for the win while striking out six. He allowed four hits and two walks. Aggies relievers then threw 3.2 shutout frames, allowing just two hits and a walk.
Texas A&M now advances to the second round to play No. 6 Auburn.
No. 8 Tennessee def. No. 9 Alabama, 15-10
Tennessee had 20 hits, including three apiece from three different players, en route to a high-scoring 15-10 win over Alabama.
The Vols led 5-1 early before Alabama posted a five-run fifth inning. However, Tennessee responded with 10 unanswered runs, including five in the sixth and four in the eighth, to take a 15-6 lead.
Alabama fought hard in the ninth with four runs, but the Crimson Tide couldn't make up the deficit.
First baseman Andrew Fischer, DH Levi Clark and catcher Cannon Peebles each had three hits. Clark notably scored three times. Right fielder Reese Chapman hit the game's only home run, a two-run shot in the eighth to give Tennessee a 13-6 lead.
Center fielder Richie Bonomolo Jr. led the Alabama offense by going 3-for-5 (two doubles) with four RBI.
Tennessee now goes to the quarterfinals to play Texas.
