Thunder's Jalen Williams Fined $25K by NBA for Profanity on Clothing After Game 7 Win
Oklahoma City Thunder star Jalen Williams picked up a fine after his team's win over the Denver Nuggets in Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals on Sunday.
The fine wasn't because of something that happened on the court or because of something he said, but because of his attire at his postgame press conference. The league announced Monday that Williams had been fined $25,000 "for wearing clothing with profane language in his postgame media session."
Williams was wearing a shirt that said "F--k Art, Let's Dance" in his press conference.
The fine is the biggest Williams has ever received, per Spotrac. His other five fines have been for $2,000 each for technical fouls.
While $25,000 isn't a small fine by any means, especially for a player who is still on his rookie contract, Williams has other things on his mind. The Thunder punched a ticket to the conference finals with Sunday's win and will now take on the Minnesota Timberwolves with a spot in the NBA Finals on the line.
It marks the first Western Conference Finals appearance for OKC since Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook led the Thunder to one in 2016.
Williams, who has had a career year, had an up-and-down performance in the seven-game series against Denver. He had a pair of rough outings in which he posted just 10 and six points, respectively, but he also stepped up with 24 points and seven assists in Game 7.
He's averaged 19.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.7 assists across 11 games this postseason and will look to bring his best against the Timberwolves starting on Tuesday.
