Kevin Durant Reacts to Fans About 'Athlete Delusion' and Says 'My Career Is Legendary'
Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant decided to start his Sunday with a bit of online debating, this time matching wits with NBA fans who decided his legacy was somehow diluted because he's played for a number of teams across his career.
The longtime knock against Durant is that he took the "if you can't beat them, join them" road when he went from the Oklahoma City Thunder to Golden State Warriors in his career, winning two titles in the process. The narrative from some fans has been that it was always "Stephen Curry's team" and that somehow mitigates Durant's impact on the team or overall legacy.
It's a fairly silly argument, of course. Are Kevin Durant and Ray Allen's legacies tainted because they joined Paul Pierce in Boston? Is LeBron James' legacy tainted because he orchestrated he and Chris Bosh joining Dwyane Wade in Miami?
You could add many more players to that list.
So yes, while some NBA fans may not have liked Durant's many address changes during his career, his actual accomplishments speak for themselves: Two titles, 15 All-Star Game nods, four scoring titles, one league MVP, two NBA Finals' MVPs, six first-team All-NBA selections.
Like him or not, there aren't many players in NBA history with that sort of résumé.
