Nuggets' Aaron Gordon Game-Time Decision for G7 vs. Thunder with Hamstring Injury
Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon is a game-time decision for the team’s Game 7 matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder due to a hamstring injury suffered in Game 6, head coach David Adelman told reporters.
Adelman noted that Gordon participated in the team’s walkthrough, appeared normal emotionally and remains part of Denver’s game plan heading into the decisive matchup.
“If Aaron can play, he will play," Adelman told reporters.
During Denvers 119-107 win over the Thunder on Thursday in the Western Conference Semifinals, he finished with five points on 2-of-7 shooting from the field while adding seven rebounds, seven assists and one steal while dealing with the hamstring injury.
Gordon has been a pivotal part of the Nuggets’ comeback after falling behind 3-2 in their series. He’s averaged 16.8 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.9 assists while shooting 48.5 percent from the field.
He has also emerged as the Nuggets’ go-to closer this postseason, delivering multiple game-winning plays that have defined Denver’s playoff run.
In Game 1 of their series against the Thunder, Gordon hit a game-winning three-pointer to stun the No. 1 seed on the road in a 121-119 win. He also delivered a game-sealing put-back dunk in Round 1 of the playoffs against the Los Angeles Clippers, helping Denver even that series at 2-2.
Tip-off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET on Sunday in Oklahoma City. The winner will advance to face the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference Finals.
