Celtics' Al Horford 'Has a Lot to Process,' Says It's 'Too Soon' to Decide on Retiring
Boston Celtics center Al Horford isn't making any firm declarations on his future just yet.
Following the Celtics' second-round loss to the New York Knicks, Horford told reporters that "it's too soon" to talk about his future in the NBA and that there is "still a lot for me to process."
Horford averaged 9.0 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 60 games for Boston during the regular season. He then averaged 7.8 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists across 10 playoff games.
Horford, who turns 39 in June, is set to hit unrestricted free agency when the new league year begins.
In order to run it back with the Celtics, who have $231 million in salary commitments on the books for next season, Horford would almost definitely have to be willing to play on a contract that pays him below market value.
