Anthony Edwards Says Wolves Haven't Done 'Anything Yet' After Eliminating Warriors
Despite leading the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Western Conference Finals for the second straight year, star guard Anthony Edwards isn't getting ahead of himself just yet.
Per ESPN's Dave McMenamin, Edwards said after Wednesday night's 121-110 Game 5 win over the Golden State Warriors that the Timberwolves won't be satisfied until they achieve their ultimate goal of winning an NBA championship.
"There is no satisfaction," he said. "We just got here. We haven't [done] anything yet."
Edwards had 22 points and a playoff career-high 12 assists to help Minnesota eliminate Golden State from the postseason. The Timberwolves set a single-game postseason franchise record with a total of 36 assists in the victory.
While Minnesota clinched a series at home for the first time since Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett played for them 21 years ago, Edwards was more subdued in his celebration.
The 23-year-old, who joined Garnett as the only players in franchise history with at least 1,000 career playoff points, knows nothing is guaranteed, especially after the team disappointingly lost to the Dallas Mavericks in last year's WCF in five games.
Edwards' growth and maturation will be the keys to Minnesota's chances of finally breaking through and making it to the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history. The Timberwolves await the winner of the other conference semifinals series between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Denver Nuggets.
