NBA Combine 2025 Participants, Schedule and Players to Watch

Zach BuckleyMay 14, 2025

The Dallas Mavericks might still be celebrating their win in the Cooper Flagg sweepstakes, but that's hardly the only thing happening in the NBA draft world.

The combine is taking place in Chicago as we speak (er...write), providing the league's top decision-makers with a firsthand view of the next crop of incoming hoopers.

And while Flagg is the obvious headliner, this draft class will produce other stars, plenty of rotation-quality contributors and, yes, probably a few busts, too.

Let's dig deeper into the combine, then, with a participant list, a layout of scheduling particulars and finally a closer look at a trio prospects to watch this week.

2025 NBA Draft Combine

The combine started on Sunday, May 11 and runs through Sunday, May 18. Events are held at Wintrust Arena and the Marriott Marquis in Chicago.

Prospects are measured for their height (with and without shoes), wingspan, weight, standing reach, body fat, hand length and hand width. They are run through physical testing that includes their vertical jump (standing and maximum), bench press, three-quarter court sprint and lane agility. They also run through shooting tests including spot-up threes, off-the-dribble shots and timed jump shots on the move.

Coverage of the event can be found on ESPN2 and NBATV. There are also two days of scrimmages:

  • May 14: Draft Combine scrimmages (ESPN2)
  • May 15: Draft Combine scrimmages (ESPN+)

Players to Watch

Tre Johnson, SG, Texas

The top prospect highlighted here, Johnson seems determined to challenge the notion that there's a consensus top-four in this class—Flagg, Dylan Harper, Ace Bailey and VJ Edgecombe. Johnson is a gifted shot-maker, and he made that apparent with some expert net-shredding in the shooting drills:

He's already helped himself in other areas, too, like measuring nearly 6'5" without shoes with better than a 6'10" wingspan. He's the No. 6 pick on the latest mock from B/R's Jonathan Wasserman, but Johnson could conceivably attract interest as soon as the No. 3 pick.

Yaxel Lendeborg, PF/C, UAB/Michigan

Lendeborg transferred from UAB to Michigan following his breakout season, but this week could determine whether he makes it to the Wolverines. The fact he can make good money at Michigan gives him some financial leverage, but perhaps a first-round promise would convince him to stay in the draft.

A skilled 6'9", 240-pounder, he did just about everything right for the Blazers this past season, averaging 17.7 points on 52.2 percent shooting, 11.4 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 3.5 combined steals and blocks. He landed in the 26th spot of Wasserman's mock.

Drake Powell, SF, North Carolina

While there's still plenty left to see at the combine, Powell already appears like one of the event's biggest winners. The wing stopper put his (arguably) best-in-class athleticism on full display with some monster leaps:

Powell's numbers were largely quiet for the Tar Heels (7.4 points and 3.4 rebounds in 25.5 minutes per game), but the draft is less about what a player has done and much more about what they could do in the future. He has a chance to convince someone he's capable of a lot more. He went 42nd on Wasserman's mock, but Powell has a chance to climb the ladder if he flashes a bit more on-ball utility.
