Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen Feud Is 'Nonsense', Says Former Bulls Teammate

Scott PolacekMay 12, 2025

Former Chicago Bulls big man Bill Cartwright believes it's beyond time for Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen to put their feud in the past.

"Nah, those guys are old guys now," Cartwright told TMZ Sports for a Monday piece. "It's like all that happened in the '90s. Shouldn't we be past that by now? Yeah, so it's kinda … nonsense."

Cartwright joined the Bulls in the 1988-89 season and played six years for the franchise. He was part of the first three-peat team that won championships in 1991, 1992 and 1993 and was also on the 1993-94 squad that played without Jordan when the legend was temporarily retired to pursue a baseball career.

"I love Pip, and MJ was a great teammate," Cartwright said. "I had great teammates my whole time there. … I just know that we won championships. I don't have anything to beef about."

While Jordan and Pippen represent one of the most famous teammate duos in sports history who largely enjoyed nothing but success on their way to six championships together, it seems like they aren't the best of friends well into their respective retirements.

Pippen took issue with the way he and some of his teammates were portrayed in the 10-part documentary, The Last Dance, which largely focused on Jordan's legendary career. He also recently revealed he hasn't spoken with Jordan since approximately 2020 and was never true friends with him even during their playing days.

"Michael, he was built different, competitive 24/7," Pippen said (h/t Shandel Richardson of Sports Illustrated). "Not too many people are built like that."

Ultimately, they are both Hall of Famers and arguably the two most important people in Bulls history. The franchise never would have won the six championships it did in the 1990s without their partnership, and perhaps that could open the door for some type of reconciliation or reunion down the line.

It seems like Cartwright hopes something like that will happen.
