Jimmy Butler Says Warriors Must 'Put Our Big Boy Pants on and' Win amid Curry Injury
Jimmy Butler is focused on helping the Golden State Warriors secure a Game 4 win without Stephen Curry in the team's second-round playoff series against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
“If we don’t win, we damn sure don’t have to worry about getting Steph back this year,” Butler said, per Anthony Slater of The Athletic. “We gotta put our big boy pants on and go out there and compete at a high level and get this one on Monday.”
The Warriors fell into a 2-1 series deficit with a 102-97 loss in Game 3 on Saturday night.
They'll look to keep their season alive until Curry is able to return, as he's missed two straight contests after suffering a Grade 1 hamstring strain in Game 1.
The two-time MVP hasn't been officially ruled out for Game 5 of the series, but a "realistic target" for him is Game 6 on May 18 (via Slater).
While Golden State has lost both games that Curry has missed, Butler has done an admirable job of stepping into a larger offensive role. Over his past two contests, he's averaged 25.0 points and 5.5 assists per game while shooting 46.2 percent from the field and 50 percent from behind the arc.
Game 4 between the Timberwolves and Warriors is on Monday, with tip-off at 10 p.m. ET
