Cavs' Darius Garland Says People 'Don't Understand What I'm Going Through' Amid Injury
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Darius Garland is being open about his injury struggles.
He returned to the Cavaliers lineup Friday for the team's Game 3 victory over the Indiana Pacers. It was his first game since Game 2 of the first round and he scored 10 points and added three assists and a rebound in the 126-104 win.
Following the game, Garland spoke about his return and said that most don't "understand what I'm going through" and that he just wants to move forward and play.
“Y’all don’t understand what I’m going through,” Garland said, per Joe Vardon of The Athletic. “I mean, everybody has their opinion. I’m going out there and playing basketball. Everybody has their nicks and bruises around this time. So, going out and trying to win the series."
Garland played 20.6 points, 6.7 assists and 2.9 rebounds in 75 games during the regular season. He is a key scorer for the Cavaliers team that earned the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference.
He suffered a toe injury in the first-round against the Miami Heat and was sidelined for four games. The team managed just fine without Garland against the Heat but quickly went down 2-0 to the Pacers in the second round. His return in Game 3 provided a spark and the Cavaliers will now hope the newfound momentum can help them retake the series.
Game 4 between Cleveland and Indiana will tip off Sunday at 8 p.m. ET.
