Giannis Responds to Bobby Portis' Comments on Bucks' Future, 'Don't Worry About Me'

Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo responded to speculation from teammate Bobby Portis regarding his future with the organization.

Antetokounmpo told Portis "don't worry about me" in an Instagram comment before asking him about his own upcoming decision to remain with the team.

Portis previously said that Antetokounmpo "bleeds green" and believed that he wants to play with "one franchise" throughout his career during a Friday appearance on FanDuel TV's Run It Back.

As for Portis, his short-term future in Milwaukee is uncertain. He has a $13.4 million player option for the 2025-26 season and the team reportedly was open to moving him ahead of the Feb. 6 trade deadline.

Antetokounmpo isn't hitting free agency anytime soon, as he has two guaranteed seasons as well as a player option for his 2027-28 campaign remaining on a three-year extension worth $186 million that he signed in Oct. 2023.

ESPN's Shams Charania reported that he would meet with the Bucks to discuss his future with the team following a five-game playoff elimination at the hands of the Indiana Pacers in the first round.

Trade rumors have surrounded Antetokounmpo with Milwaukee's recent lack of playoff success.

Since the Bucks won the NBA Finals in 2021, they haven't made it past the second round of the postseason since. They've also suffered first-round defeats in three straight years.

Despite Milwaukee's early playoff exits, Antetokounmpo has remained one of the league's most dominant players. In 67 starts during the 2024-25 season, he averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game while shooting 60.1 percent from the field.

The two-time MVP also recorded 33.0 points and 15.4 rebounds per game in five contests against Indiana in the 2025 playoffs.

While Antetokounmpo's long-term outlook in Milwaukee has been a topic of discussion among fans and players alike, he wants to see what decision Portis will make with his looming player option first.
