Metallica Plays 'Enter Sandman' in Virginia Tech's Lane Stadium in Concert Video
Metallica brought years of pent-up excitement to Virginia Tech’s Lane Stadium on Wednesday night, energizing the crowd with a live performance of the Virginia Tech Hokies’ iconic entrance song during a stop on their M72 World Tour.
With more than 60,000 fans packed into the stadium, the live performance of “Enter Sandman” sent shockwaves through Lane Stadium—both literally and figuratively—as the crowd’s reaction registered on the Richter scale.
The Virginia Tech Hokies have used “Enter Sandman” as their entrance song since the 2000 season, a tradition that has accompanied the program to 10 bowl game victories since its debut.
Metallica teased the intro to the song before unleashing the full track as its grand finale, sending the crowd into a frenzy.
"I think we're missing something," frontman James Hetfield said, before he hyped up the crowd with a “Let’s go, Hokies” chant just before launching into the song.
