Warriors' Kerr Says T-Wolves Bear-Hug Steph Curry After Minnesota HC's Gobert Remarks
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr pushed back on the assertion by Minnesota Timberwolves coach Chris Finch that the Warriors are benefiting from uneven officiating.
Kerr told reporters Wednesday the Timberwolves are "bear-hugging" Golden State star Stephen Curry and that he has his own issues with how the postseason is being called:
Finch specifically cited what he thought was excessive contact on big man Rudy Gobert that wasn't getting called.
"On defensive rebounding, they do a lot of fouling, shoving, holding, pushing and tackling Rudy," he told reporters. "That's clear. We sent a bunch of those clips into the league. In fact, I'm not sure I know another player in the league with Rudy's pedigree that is allowed to be physically beaten on the way he is. And so we've got to address that one way or another."
Finch also suggested the Wolves will "certainly try to take justice into our own hands whenever we can" to even the scales.
As Kerr said in his response, this has been a steady theme across the entire postseason. Pick out almost any series and you're likely to find at least one head coach frustrated with the level of contact that's being permitted.
A lot of coaches just want to see a game called consistently for both sides. In its own way, that seems to be happening in the 2025 playoffs.
