Steph Curry, Warriors Betting Underdogs in NBA Playoff Series for 1st Time Since 2014
The Golden State Warriors are betting underdogs in an NBA playoff series for the first time since 2014, according to Ben Fawkes of Yahoo Sports.
The latest FanDuel Sportsbook odds have Curry and the Warriors as a +150 underdog for their second-round matchup vs. Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
This is a challenging matchup for the No. 7 seed Warriors, who will face off against a No. 6 seed Timberwolves team that just beat the No. 3 seed Los Angeles Lakers in five games.
Edwards in particular may be hard to stop, as the Lakers couldn't handle him well enough to beat Minnesota. He averaged 26.8 points per game against Los Angeles in the playoffs, including 43 points in a massive 116-113 win in Game 4 that gave Minnesota a 3-1 series lead.
Minnesota also has home-court advantage as the higher seed, giving it another edge going into this series.
No one should count out the Warriors, who are led by the superstar tandem of Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler. But they got some clutch help to dispatch the No. 2 seed Houston Rockets in Game 7 on Sunday night, led by 33 points from Buddy Hield and a 16-point, six-assist, five-rebound outing from Draymond Green.
Game 1 of this series will tip off Tuesday in Minneapolis at 9:30 p.m. ET.
