Jalen Brunson, KAT Amaze NBA Fans in Knicks' Game 4 Comeback Win vs. Cade, Pistons
You go as far as your superstars can take you in the NBA Playoffs. Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns have the New York Knicks on the brink of advancing to the second round of the Eastern Conference Playoffs.
The duo was fantastic on Sunday, leading the Knicks to a 94-93 win despite New York blowing a 16-point second-quarter lead.
Brunson led the way with 32 points and 11 assists, while KAT chipped in with 27 points and nine rebounds. Both were superb down the stretch for New York, combining to score the team's final 15 points and give the Knicks a 3-1 edge in the series.
And Brunson did all that despite suffering an ankle injury in the third quarter:
That spoiled a massive performance from Cade Cunningham, who did it all for the Pistons with a 25-point, 10-rebound, 10-assist triple-double. Detroit was also aggrieved after officials swallowed their whistle on the final sequence of the game, as it appeared Josh Hart made significant contact with Tim Hardaway Jr. while he attempted a three.
But the experience of the Knicks came up big in the final moments, namely from Brunson and Towns, who came up with big shot after big shot.
Not surprisingly, the pair were the toast of social media after the hard-fought victory:
This was a battle, in every sense of the word. The game was physical throughout, with officials largely letting the teams play, and it was a game of streaks, with both teams overcoming double-digit deficits.
The Pistons obliterated the Knicks in the third quarter by a 28-14 margin, only to watch New York walk them back down in the fourth.
Now the Knicks head back to New York for Tuesday's Game 5, one win away from advancing past the Pistons. Given how tight this series has become, it's far from a foregone conclusion.
