Shedeur Sanders' NFL Combine Interview Answers Revealed in Report Amid Draft Rumors
The mystery of what made Shedeur Sanders' team interviews from the NFL combine so polarizing may be solved.
Per ESPN's Kalyn Kahler, Sanders took part in the interview process with National Football Scouting that records a player's response and makes them available to all 32 teams.
Kahler noted each prospect receives the same set of basic questions, ranging from things like "What was your college experience like?" to "How do you manage stress?" and "What's an area of growth for you?"

In Sanders' interview obtained by Kahler, he "gave long and thorough answers" that involved "sharing more than the question asked for."
For instance, Sanders finished a question about his upbringing by saying: "I don't have a trust fund personally, so I have no choice but to be successful."
According to Kahler, one response Sanders gave was about the pressure of being the son of Deion Sanders:
"I feel like nothing can faze me mentally, because I've been in the most high-pressure situation that there is to be known. That's the edge I have over any other player, because they haven't dealt with expectation immediately. See, a lot of people got to grow their name, and they had to build their name. They were nobody, then became someone. Being the son of my dad, you somebody [from the beginning]."
Sanders' draft stock coming out of the combine was all over the place. One reason for that is multiple reports that suggested teams didn't think too highly of his combine interview.
Per a March 3 report from NFL insider Josina Anderson, one quarterbacks coach for a team picking in the top seven described Sanders as "brash" and "arrogant."
NBC Sports' Matthew Berry wrote on March 4 that two people from two different clubs said that he came off as "unprofessional and disinterested."
These aren't universally-held opinions by people in the NFL. One league executive who met with Sanders told Kahler he is a "thoughtful person" who could come off "a little bit combative because he's going to ask questions, and he really wants to think through what you're saying."
Sanders' press conference at the scouting combine was well-received. He spoke about having worked with Tom Brady, helping turn around two college programs (Jackson State and Colorado), leadership and mental toughness as a quarterback.
The narrative around Sanders did turn back toward the positive after Colorado's pro day on April 4. He could end up being drafted close to where most people who have predicted when the offseason began.
Sanders is going to have a workout with officials from the New York Giants, who own the No. 3 overall pick, on Thursday, exactly one week before the start of the 2025 NFL draft.
