Jayson Tatum Says Celtics 'Cherishing' 60-Win Season, 'Shifting Gears' to NBA Playoffs
Jayson Tatum was proud of the Boston Celtics for clinching another 60-win season, but he's also staying focused entering the 2025 NBA playoffs.
"Another incredible season," Tatum said, per the Associated Press (h/t ESPN). "You know, 60-plus-win team. And obviously the goal is to be for championships, but I think enjoying the process along the way, cherishing those small wins, per se, and acknowledging that we had another incredible regular season."
"Something to be proud of, for sure," he added. "But now, just kind of shifting gears and getting our minds and our bodies ready for what's to come."
Boston secured its 60th win of the year with a lopsided 130-94 victory over the Charlotte Hornets on Friday night.
Tatum shot just 6-of-17 in 32 minutes on the floor, but he still finished with 16 points and eight rebounds to go along with eight assists.
The Celtics sit at 60-21 with one game left in the regular season and are locked into the No. 2 spot in the Eastern Conference standings. Boston has now recorded two consecutive years with at least 60 wins for the first time since 2009.
The Celtics are entering the playoffs on a high note, as they own a record of 18-3 over their past 21 contests.
Tatum has operated as Boston's leading scorer once again during his 2024-25 campaign, averaging 26.8 points and a career-high 6.0 assists per game on 45.2/34.2/81.4 shooting splits.
While the 27-year-old took some time to cherish the Celtics' win total, he's also preparing to help them defend their 2024 championship.
