Thunder's SGA Says Regular-Season Records Don't Mean Anything 'in the Grand Scheme'
The Oklahoma City Thunder could become just the third team in NBA history to win 70 games if they go 7-0 to finish the regular season. They already are guaranteed to finish with the best cross-conference record in NBA history, setting the record with 28 wins against the Eastern Conference. They are two wins away from setting the record for most double-digit victories in league history.
And they really don't care.
"We don't care not one bit about any of those records," Shai Gilgeous-Alexander told The Athletic's Anthony Slater. "They mean something, but in the grand scheme, they don't. We're after one thing and one thing only. That's what’s on our mind. Everything else we don't care about."
The Thunder only care about one thing, and it's an NBA championship. And it's hard to blame them. The 2015-16 Golden State Warriors, for instance, won an NBA-record 73 games during the regular season but didn't win a title that season. That made the other achievements of the year pretty bittersweet.
The Thunder don't want to fall into the same category. Their eyes remain fixated on the ultimate prize.
