Naz Reid, Wolves Reportedly Agree to New 5-Year, $125M Contract Before NBA Free Agency

Timothy RappJun 27, 2025

Naz Reid will return to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The veteran center signed a five-year, $125 million contract to remain with Minnesota after declining his $15 million player option for the 2025-26 season, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.

Reid, 25, has continued to be an important contributor for the Wolves. He averaged 14.2 points and six rebounds in 27.5 minutes per game this past season, largely coming off the bench. He provides fantastic frontcourt depth, energy and defense and has become a key figure in Minnesota.

But he also could have potentially sought a bigger role on the open market, albeit in a summer where almost no teams had cap space. Nonetheless, his return was not guaranteed, and few in Minnesota would have blamed him for at least testing free agency. Had both he and Julius Randle declined their player options without signing a long-term deal, keeping the trio of Reid, Julius Randle and unrestricted free agent guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker—while staying under the second apron—would have been incredibly difficult.

Now, the Wolves know they'll at least have Reid back. It's great news for a team who was facing the potential loss of a lot of important role players this summer as the Wolves continue to ongoing quest to surround superstar Anthony Edwards with a championship roster.
