Mavs Rumors: Anthony Davis Being Talked Out of Injury Return by Some in Organization
As Anthony Davis weighs whether to return to the court this season, some in the Dallas Mavericks organization are trying to persuade the star to stay on the bench for the rest of the year, per ESPN's Tim MacMahon.
According to MacMahon, Davis "is not trying to hear all that."
"He is steadfast in his determination to want to return this season, maybe as soon as next week, despite the fact there are people within the Mavericks organization that have tried to talk him out of it," MacMahon said on NBA Today.

Davis, who was traded to the Mavericks in February, suffered a left adductor strain in his debut after dropping 26 points, 16 rebounds, seven assists and three blocks.
Davis was initially ruled out for multiple weeks due to the injury and he's now been out for more than a month. At this point, shutting down his season seems like the best move with how the year has ended up for Dallas.
The Mavericks have been decimated by injuries as of late, the biggest of which was Kyrie Irving's season-ending torn ACL.
With all the injuries, Dallas has fallen down the Western Conference standings and it's now sitting in 10th place at 33-36. Had Irving been healthy, the Mavs likely could have stayed afloat long enough for Davis to return, but with just 13 games left, a playoff push would be a tall task.
Considering Dallas is far from a Finals contender, the best plan of action could be shutting Davis down to begin preparing for next season.
