Tracy Morgan Says Food Poisoning Resulted in Courtside Medical Incident at Knicks Game
Following a concerning medical incident during Monday night's game between the New York Knicks and Miami Heat at Madison Square Garden, actor and comedian Tracy Morgan provided a positive update.
Morgan said in an Instagram post that he was suffering from a case of food poisoning, but he's recovering well.
"Thank you for all your concern! I’m doing ok now and doctors say it was food poisoning," Morgan wrote. "Appreciate my MSG family for taking such good care of me and I need to shout out the crew that had to clean that up. Appreciate you!"
Morgan was sitting courtside when he fell ill in the third quarter and vomited before being taken out of the arena in a wheelchair. The game was delayed for approximately 10 minutes while the cleanup crew worked to clear the area.
Following the delay, the Knicks went on a 24-6 run before earning a 116-95 victory over the Heat. After the game, Morgan's health was still a concern for the players.
"First and foremost, obviously we hope everything is good with Tracy Morgan," Knicks forward Josh Hart said after the win. "Avid, lifetime Knick fan so prayers go out to him and his health and safety."
Born in the Bronx, Morgan is a lifelong Knicks fan and a staple at MSG during their games. He joked that his illness on Monday night helped propel the team to victory.
"More importantly, the Knicks are now 1-0 when I throw up on the court so maybe I’ll have to break it out again in the playoffs," Morgan added in his caption.
The 56-year-old, who is known for his roles on Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock, has overcome major health issues throughout his life. He underwent a kidney transplant in 2010 and he was in a car crash in 2014 that left him in a coma for two weeks.
It appears that Morgan is still in good spirits, so the Knicks will be hoping he feels well enough to return to MSG later this year.
