
Mikal Bridges, KAT Thrill Knicks Fans in Blowout Win vs. Heat with Jalen Brunson Out
Mikal Bridges and Karl-Anthony Towns combined for 51 points in the New York Knicks' 116-95 blowout win over the Miami Heat on Monday without Jalen Brunson.
Towns finished the night with 23 points, seven rebounds and three assists while shooting 10-of-17 from the field in the victory. Bridges added 28 points, shooting 10-of-14 from the field, along with three assists and one steal.
On the other side of the court, Tyler Herro posted 20 points, shooting 10-of-18 from the field and going 0-of-3 from beyond the arc, in addition to 22 points from Duncan Robinson, who shot 5-of-9 from three-point range.
With the win, the Knicks improved to 43-24, sitting firmly in third place in the Eastern Conference standings behind Cleveland and Boston, who have both clinched playoff berths. The Heat fall to 29-39 as they continue to battle with Chicago to remain in the last two play-in positions.
Fans were thrilled with the dominant performance from Towns and Bridges as they cruised past the Heat.
Herro kicked off the scoring on the night with a Bam Adebayo assist, setting the tone for the Heat’s first quarter. Duncan Robinson followed up with back-to-back three-pointers after a layup, quickly grabbing eight points and the Heat took a 12-0 lead. Mikal Bridges halted the run with a three-pointer of his own, but the Heat ended the quarter with a 29-18 lead.
In the second quarter, the Knicks fought back, with Towns scoring 15 consecutive points to help the Knicks close the gap to within two before halftime.
Coming out of halftime, Bridges caught fire, knocking down 15 points to fuel a blowout for the Knicks, who outscored the Heat 41-15 in the third quarter and took an 88-64 lead into the final quarter.
Bridges added three points in the fourth, along with four from Towns, as the Knicks cruised through the final quarter and secured the win.
The Knicks will look to grab a win against the San Antonio Spurs on the road Wednesday.
