Shams: Anthony Davis' Mavs Season Possibly Over After Kyrie Irving's Knee Injury
Anthony Davis has played just one game in a Dallas Mavericks uniform, and it could be the only time he suits up for the organization this year.
After star point guard Kyrie Irving suffered a season-ending torn ACL, ESPN's Shams Charania reported that Davis could end his season prematurely to focus on staying healthy.
"I think him, his representatives are gonna huddle up. I think they're gonna have some very hard conversations," Charania said on The Pat McAfee Show. "It's not out of the realm of possibility that one game was the last time we've seen AD this season."

Davis' Mavericks tenure got off to a good start when he logged 26 points, 16 boards, seven assists and three blocks in his debut, but he suffered an adductor strain in that contest on Feb. 8 and has been out since.
Davis said after the injury that he was "very confident" it wouldn't be a significant setback, per Charania, but he's now missed almost a month of action and will be re-evaluated this week.
Depending on how his evaluation goes, it could make sense for Davis to call it a season and begin preparations for next year.
The Mavericks are currently in 10th place in the Western Conference at 32-30. With just 20 games left in the regular season, missing the playoffs is becoming more of a realistic ending to Dallas' year.
With Irving now out for the rest of the season, the Mavs' chances of making the playoffs are even more slim. If they do make the postseason, it would take a miracle for Dallas to make a deep run without Irving.
Davis has a somewhat extensive injury history and the Mavericks don't want to risk their star suffering another ailment just for them to possibly make the playoffs. If Dallas and Davis feel a championship run is out of the question, it wouldn't be surprising to see the big man start his offseason early.
