LeBron, Luka Lead Lakers Past Edwards, Wolves as NBA Fans Debate LA's Title Odds
The Los Angeles Lakers won their fourth straight and improved to 4-2 with Luka Dončić in the lineup with a convincing 111-102 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday.
In a game that once again proved the Lakers' legitimacy as contenders to make it out of the Western Conference, LeBron James led the way with 33 points, 17 rebounds and six assists. His new co-star Dončić put up 21 points, 13 rebounds and five assists as he continues to find his footing in Los Angeles.
Austin Reaves continued what has been a career season, posting 23 points, six boards and five assists.
Things got easier for the Lakers when Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards was ejected in the third quarter, but by then, Los Angeles had a somewhat comfortable lead.
Los Angeles looked shaky earlier this year but has been playing its best basketball lately. After another telling win, fans hyped the Lakers as NBA Finals contenders.
With Thursday's win, the Lakers improved to 36-21 on the year and are currently sitting in fourth place in the West just behind the Denver Nuggets. They've been especially good this month, winning nine of their 11 games in February.
What's more, Los Angeles' last three wins have come against championship-caliber teams as it beat the Nuggets on Saturday, the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday and Minnesota on Thursday.
The Lakers will get two more opportunities for promising wins later this week as they face their in-city rival Los Angeles Clippers on Friday and Sunday.
