Stephen Curry Thrills NBA Fans with Shooting Onslaught in Warriors' Win vs. Magic
Golden State Warriors fans were treated on Thursday night to a vintage Steph Curry performance.
Curry put up 56 points to lead the Warriors to a 121-115 road win over the Orlando Magic.
He went 12-for-19 from behind the arc to come two 3-pointers shy of Klay Thompson's single-game record.
Curry ended his 21-point first half by making his fifth 3-pointer of the night a buzzer-beater from the far side of the Magic logo.
The Warriors trailed by 14 points after two quarters. Curry helped fix that by outscoring the entire Magic team 22-21 in the third.
Steve Kerr rested Curry for most of the fourth quarter, but put him back on the court when the Magic started to pull close in the final minutes.
Curry responded with three more 3-pointers to shut down the home team's comeback attempt.
The victory marked Curry's 45th career game with at least nine 3-pointers. As pointed out by the Warriors, that's by far the most in NBA history:
The Warriors have now won seven of eight games since acquiring Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat.
If the addition of Butler helps Curry put up more performances like his Thursday night outing, the Warriors could go from battling for the last play-in spot in the West to one of the six guaranteed playoff spots at the top of the conference by the end of the season.
