Anthony Edwards Defends Luka Doncic from Weight Rumors: 'Don't Give a Damn If You 300'
It's safe to assume Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards wouldn't have traded Luka Dončić if he were running the Dallas Mavericks.
Dončić's supposed conditioning issues were a driving force behind the Mavs' decision to send him to the Los Angeles Lakers. Asked about Luka during All-Star Weekend, Edwards said his playing weight is irrelevant when he's delivering the production he has across his career.
"He didn't look 270 to me," Edwards told reporters. "Man, he averages 30 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds. I don't give a damn if you 300. You fine with me."

Dončić is a five-time All-NBA honoree who's putting up 28.6 points, 8.6 rebounds and 8.2 assists through seven seasons. Despite not being a supreme athlete and struggling to stay in shape at times, the 25-year-old is one of the most talented players in the league.
To Edwards' point, the numbers and accolades speak for themselves.
But Edwards isn't the one who faced the prospect of paying Dončić on a supermax extension or placing long-term championship aspirations onto his shoulders.
The Athletic's Christian Clark, Mike Vorkunov and Fred Katz reported Monday that Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison was worried "that Dončić’s body would break down possibly sooner than anyone would suspect."
It's easy to look at Luka's career to this point and adopt the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mindset. But his conditioning is bound to become a more pressing concern as he ages.
