Kevin Durant: 'Never Thought for a Second I Ain’t Get No Love Here' from Warriors Fans
Kevin Durant wasn't surprised by the warm reception that Golden State Warriors fans gave him throughout 2025 NBA All-Star festivities.
"I always feel the love from the fans in the Bay Area,” Durant said, per Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area. “I never thought for a second I ain’t get no love here. I heard people saying I might not feel this much love and I didn’t know it was this much love, but everywhere I go all around the world and the country there’s Warriors fans and they always show me love. Of course I heard it."
The Phoenix Suns forward received a particularly loud cheer when he took the floor for All-Star practice at Oakland Arena, formerly known as Oracle Arena. Golden State played its home games in the venue from 1971 through the 2018-19 season.
“Especially Oracle, that’s my home," Durant said, via Johnson. "A lot of great memories in the Bay Area. I got a tight relationship with fans and myself.”
The 14-time All-Star played a crucial role on the Warriors during his three-year tenure with the team, averaging 25.8 points and 7.1 rebounds per game on 52.4/38.4/88.3 shooting splits.
Golden State made the NBA Finals in each of its three seasons with Durant, winning two championships. He earned Finals MVP honors on both occasions.
Durant nearly ended up back on his old team prior to the Feb. 6 trade deadline. ESPN's Shams Charania and Brian Windhorst reported that the Warriors, Suns and Miami Heat were "nearing an agreement" that would have brought Durant to Golden State.
Talks ultimately ended up stalling after the former MVP informed Phoenix that he didn't want to return to the Warriors, per Charania and Windhorst.
While Durant's reported unwillingness to return to his old stomping grounds could have rubbed some fans the wrong way, that doesn't appear to be the case.
