NBA Jordan Rising Stars 2025: Rosters, Snubs, Predictions for All-Star Event

Joe TanseyFeb 12, 2025

The NBA’s best young talent will be on display at the start of NBA All-Star Weekend in the Rising Stars Game.

Four teams, three with NBA talent and one from the G-League, will battle in a bracketed event. Two semifinals will take place to open the event and then the two winners face off in the final.

Tim Hardaway Sr., Chris Mullin and Mitch Richmond drafted their respective rosters made up of NBA talent when the participants were announced.

Jeremy Lin will be in charge of the G-League team that is led by 2024 first-round pick Reed Sheppard.

The full rosters for each of the four teams can be found here on NBA.com.

Rosters

1 of 3
Washington Wizards v Phoenix Suns

Team T, coached by Tim Hardaway, features Golden State’s Brandin Podziemski, who will be playing on his home floor at Chase Center.

Podziemski initially did not make the cut for the Rising Stars game, but he was named as one of five replacements.

Jared McCain, Victor Wembanyama, Brandon Miller, Dereck Lively and Cason Wallace were selected to the Rising Stars Game, but they will not play because of various reasons, including injuries.

The top two picks in the 2024 NBA draft, Zaccharie Risacher and Alex Sarr, are also on Team T with Podziemski.

Mitch Richmond’s Team M looks dangerous on paper because of the built-in chemistry that his players have.

Washington teammates Bilal Coulibaly and Bub Carrington, Portland teammates Scoot Henderson and Toumani Camara and brothers Amen and Ausar Thompson are on the squad.  New Orleans center Yves Missi is the only player without a connection on Team M.

Team C is led by San Antonio’s Stephon Castle, the No. 4 overall pick in 2024, and Dalton Knecht. Knecht could be playing in his first game since the rescinded Mark Williams trade if he does not play for the Lakers on Wednesday night.

The G-League roster is led by No. 3 overall pick Reed Sheppard and two-time Slam Dunk Contest winner Mac McClung.

Two of the top three scorers in the G-League, JD Davison and Bryce McGowens, are also on the Jeremy Lin-coached team.

Snubs

2 of 3
Miami Heat v Brooklyn Nets

Perhaps the biggest snub is a player who recently caught fire for a team that changed around its roster.

Miami’s Kel’El Ware ranks in the top 10 in rookie scoring, but he was not a major contributor for the Miami Heat until the calendar turned to January.

Rookie assist leader Isaiah Collier of the Utah Jazz is also not appearing on All-Star weekend. He is averaging 5.7 assists per game this season and has increased that total to 9.8 assists per game in February.

Portland big man Donovan Clingan was left out in favor of Yves Missi, Zach Edey and Trayce Jackson-Davis at center. Clingan is fourth among rookies in rebounds per game.

Prediction

3 of 3
Toronto Raptors v Houston Rockets

Team M’s built-in chemistry with the Thompson brothers and teammates from Washington and Portland could give it the edge in the Rising Stars competition.

Amen and Ausar Thompson are enjoying breakout seasons, and if they were on separate teams, they would be the main attraction on those rosters.

The opportunity to showcase their talents together on All-Star Weekend could motivate the Thompson brothers to lead Team M to the Rising Stars victory.
