Real Madrid Transfer News: Latest Arturo Vidal and Sergio Ramos Rumours

Tom SunderlandJul 5, 2015

Real Madrid are on the verge of signing Juventus general Arturo Vidal following the midfielder's Copa America triumph, while Barcelona talisman Andres Iniesta has proclaimed Sergio Ramos won't be leaving the Bernabeu.

Los Merengues have sped to the front of the queue in pursuit of Vidal and Chilean newspaper La Tercera is cited by Spanish daily AS as reporting "Juventus and Madrid have already reached an agreement":

Artiz Gabilondo of AS wrote that Vidal will pen a five-year deal with La Liga titans Real, having helped La Roja beat Argentina on penalties this Saturday to clinch the 2015 Copa America crown.

Vidal was one of those to convert from the spot as Chile won their home tournament, and the player was also named man of the match for his hand in nullifying the talents of Lionel Messi and Co., per Squawka:

Gabilondo noted that while it may be "feasible" Vidal has agreed terms with Real, there is yet to be any news of Juve sanctioning the deal.

One superstar recruit in central midfield appears to be a priority for Benitez this summer, and the club has also been linked to Paul Pogba, Vidal's Juventus teammate, according to Mike Keegan of MailOnline.

If Serie A champions Juventus were to allow both players a summer departure, it would be highly unlikely that both would end up at Real, meaning Los Blancos face a choice in which box-to-box man ranks highest.

Sami Khedira's move to Turin has left a space in the squad's engine room, while the future of fringe midfielder Asier Illarramendi could also come to play a hand in how heavily the Spaniards invest.

For now, Vidal would appear to sit at the top of Benitez's list of priorities as a move edges ever closer, although we may face a wait until the two giants of European football can agree upon any transfer sum.

Andres Iniesta Banking On Ramos Stay

Ramos' position at the Bernabeu has been thrown into disarray of late, but his international team-mate and long-term club rival Iniesta has chimed in on the current drama unfolding in Spain's capital.

Rather than it being the player's choice, however, Iniesta believes Ramos will be forced to stick with Real, per Tom Dutton of the London Evening Standard:

"He is one of the best defenders in the world. I doubt that Real Madrid will let him go."

As Dutton states, Manchester United are the main party linked with the want-away defender and it appears increasingly likely David De Gea will be permitted a Madrid return this summer only if Ramos comes in the other direction.

This year signals the centre-back's 10-year anniversary since moving to Real and despite the news emerging of his desire to move, Ramos is quoted by AS as saying he's yet to discuss a move with any side:

A disagreement with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is alleged to be the primary reason for Ramos seeking a summer switch just months after he was offered a new deal with the club.

Rob Draper of the Mail On Sunday attests to the rift with Perez being grave at this stage, although Benitez is doing all he can to convince his three-time La Liga winner into remaining:

Only time will tell if the damage that appears to have been done in recent months can be mended, with United waiting to capitalise upon any increasing discontent.

In any case, Iniesta certainly feels confident the current crisis will eventually subside and that he'll be lining up opposite the defender in this season's upcoming El Clasico derbies.
