Patrick Beverley Re-Signs with Houston Rockets on 4-Year Deal
Patrick Beverley was pursued by the Sacramento Kings until the last minute, but the point guard will remain with Houston on a four-year, $25 million deal, per Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.
Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders reported earlier that contract talks between the Kings and Beverley were progressing and were approaching a deal. However, the Kings would miss on Beverley and settle on Rajon Rondo, per ESPN's Marc Stein, shortly after Beverley signed his deal.
Beverley, 26, averaged 10.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game last season. While he's a flawed offensive player, Beverley remains a solid on-ball defender with an aggressive mindset. He helped prop up James Harden at times by willingly defending bigger opposing guards and allowing Harden to take a bigger offensive role.

Beverley has also developed into a solid three-point shooter, hitting 35.6 percent of his shots from deep last season.
Retaining Beverley goes a long way toward Houston's defensive effort and overall depth.
