Caribbean Premier League 2015: Best XI from CPL Week 1
After exactly one week of competition, the Caribbean Premier League has hit momentum already with teams impressing with bat and ball.
From the six franchises, several individuals in particular have impressed, even in a tight schedule that crams games together.
Let’s put together a best XI from the first week of the CPL, starring those who have shone for the franchises.
2. Dwayne Smith (Barbados Tridents)
2 of 11
3. Johnson Charles (St. Lucia Zouks)
3 of 11
Normally an opener but at No. 3 in this list is Johnson Charles of the St. Lucia Zouks, who has also looked strong in his three matches.
His 69 not out against the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots was the highlight, while his 47 against Guyana also stood out.
4. Shoaib Malik (Barbados Tridents)
4 of 11
The ageless Shoaib Malik (33) has been impressive for the Barbados Tridents already and made some strong contributions with the bat.
His 43 not out against Jamaica was key, while an aggressive 39 from 35 balls set the tone against the Guyana Amazon Warriors.
5. Brad Hodge (Guyana Amazon Warriors)
5 of 11
Another senior overseas player to impress early is Brad Hodge of the Guyana Amazon Warriors.
The 40-year-old Australian has played just twice but done well in each, including an unbeaten 45 against St. Lucia.
6. Kieron Pollard (Barbados Tridents)
6 of 11
Barbados captain Kieron Pollard makes this list thanks to some strong batting and bowling performances already for the Tridents.
He had a brilliant game against St. Kitts and Nevis, as he made 82 from 58 balls having taken two for 27 with the ball.
7. Tillakaratne Dilshan (Guyana Amazon Warriors)
7 of 11
9. Ravi Rampaul (Barbados Tridents)
9 of 11
Another Tridents bowler to do well is Ravi Rampaul, who continues to profit as a seam bowler on spin-friendly tracks.
He has also managed to be relatively economical, as witnessed against Guyana as he took three for 16 in three overs, one of which was a maiden.
10. Sunil Narine (Guyana Amazon Warriors)
10 of 11
The West Indies’ superstar spinner, Sunil Narine, has enjoyed a decent start so far with the Guyana Amazon Warriors.
He has two wickets apiece in each of his two matches, even as Guyana have gone winless.
11. Sheldon Cottrell (St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots)
11 of 11
Finally, Sheldon Cottrell is rewarded for some strong work for the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots, in particular against Barbados.
His two for 15 in four overs was thrifty and helped St. Kitts win by just one run in what was an incredibly tight finish.
