Liverpool Transfer News: Carlos Bacca Wants Move, Rumours of Mass Cull Emerge
Sevilla striker Carlos Bacca "likes the idea of coming to the Premier League," according to Sky Sports' Guillem Balague, who commented on speculation the Colombian is being eyed by Liverpool and Manchester United.
Balague provided further comment:
"Carlos Bacca at the end of the season told Sevilla he would like a way out.
Sevilla would like him to stay, but he does know there is interest from the Premier League and Italy. He likes the idea of coming to the Premier League, of course he has been abroad for a few years and would be happy to continue that progression abroad.
Although Sevilla expect an offer, it hasn't arrived yet.

Sky Sports noted Liverpool's pursuit of three forwards, including Bacca:
Bacca tallied 27 goals across La Liga and the Europa League last season, including a brace during Sevilla's final victory over Dnipro in the latter competition. He is a thoughtful player who does the basics well. Subtle pieces of movement often allow Bacca to find space, and few are more clinical when stationed in the box, per WhoScored.com:
"Carlos Bacca: Only Cristiano Ronaldo (32) and Lionel Messi (23) scored more clear-cut chances in La Liga last season than @carlos7bacca (20)

Liverpool's lack of a prolific goalscorer seriously tainted their chances of success last season, something manager Brendan Rodgers will know all too well. Sky Sports highlighted the forward line's troubles in a post-Luis Suarez world:
Bacca is an ideal candidate to finish chances produced by the Reds' creative players. Supporters will only see the best of Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana and others when they've got an effective attacking outlet providing runs ahead of them.
Having already signed James Milner, Danny Ings, Adam Bogdan and Joe Gomez since the conclusion of the season, as reported by Chris Shaw of the club's website, Rodgers may now be looking to offload the squad's deadwood.

Alex Harris of the Daily Star reports up to nine players could follow Steven Gerrard, Glen Johnson and Brad Jones out of the club.
Liverpool have placed a £10 million price tag on Italian striker Fabio Borini, with Fiorentina, Lazio, Bologna and Sunderland said to be interested. The Black Cats could also lure Sebastian Coates from Anfield in a £5 million deal after his loan spell during the 14-15 campaign.
Javier Manquillo is destined to return to Atletico Madrid after an unsuccessful loan, while fellow Spaniards Jose Enrique and Luis Alberto are likely to depart, according to Harris.

Rodgers is "desperate" to sell Mario Balotelli, per the Mirror (h/t Harris). His exit would pave the way for Bacca to be installed as the side's new hope up front. Balotelli failed to score more than one goal in any competition during 14-15.
Harris suggests the right offer for Lazar Markovic, Lucas Leiva and Andre Wisdom could tempt Rodgers to cash in. Such a cull may come without considering the potential departure of Raheem Sterling, as discussed by B/R UK's Graham Ruthven:
Rodgers' squad almost always seems to be in flux and dramatically changing between seasons. He was unable to build on Liverpool's second-place finish from the 2013-14 campaign, ending up sixth this year. Now Rodgers' main objective should be returning the side to the Champions League, a competition his team disappointed in during their recent group-stage elimination.
Making wholesale changes is an obvious, yet risky way of handling business. Liverpool's summer signings from last year largely failed to settle and only showed their true quality in glimpses. The transition to a club of this magnitude, and indeed the Premier League, means most new acquisitions will take time to settle.
Although headline-grabbing signings are needed, a mass exodus could leave Liverpool's depth severely lacking. Rodgers' teams are always set up to play fast-paced, exciting football, but his squad management and next batch of signings will determine the longevity of his tenure at the club.
